The new Halo TV show manages to look incredibly cheap and expensive at the same time, will release on March 24 https://www.digit.in andrew.lu@9dot9.in (Andrew Lu) A Halo live-action movie has been in the works since 2007 and after years of languishing in production hell, we’ve finally got a trailer. The new show is being developed at Paramount Plus, home of the excellent Yellowstone. We actually got a bit of sneak-peek at the show back during the Game Awards but we’ve now got a full-fledged trailer that shows off some of the story and what fans can expect. The Halo TV show stars Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and we’ve got a bunch of riff-raff that no one cares about. The show will hit the streaming service on March 24, 2022.  The new Halo trailer just hit the internet Judging from the trailer, it seems that the showrunners have not followed the game canon and will be telling a story that is separate from the main Halo games. While that sounds well and good, we are more concerned about the show pushing The Message, like every other modern TV show. Also, the sets and some of the effects look incredibly cheap, like it was filmed at a CW set but some of it looks excellent. For what it’s worth, this reminds us of The Witcher on Netflix, which is a travesty of epic proportions. You can check out the trailer below to confirm our suspicions.  We also get a good look at Cortana and the Arbiter. While the Arbiter does look accurate to the game, Cortana is anything but. To be fair, 343 Studios kind of destroyed the franchise so it’s fitting that the show will be using more designs from their games. Oh well, you can check out the trailer below and judge it for yourselves. As far as we are concerned, this looks to be dead on arrival.    https://ift.tt/3lIWqKgnr January 31, 2022 at 01:43PM

Apple iMac Pro could make a comeback alongside iPhone SE 5G, and Mac Mini during 2022 Spring Event https://www.digit.in yetnesh.dubey@9dot9.in (Yetnesh Dubey) According to the latest Mark Gurman’s newsletter, Apple is likely to re-release the iMac Pro during its upcoming Spring 2022 event. Introduced in 2017 as a workstation-grade computer, Apple discontinued the iMac Pro last year. Also, as everyone knows, Cupertino is slowly but steadily shifting its entire range of devices on powerful homemade Apple silicon, it's probably the best time for the discontinued iMac Pro to make a triumphant return. The newsletter alleges that the Apple iMac Pro will likely have a bigger screen size than 24-inch. It may also feature a mini-LED ProMotion 120Hz display.  Apart from that, Apple currently sells two iMac products - a 24-inch M1 powered version and a bigger 27-inch model still using an Intel 10th Gen processor lineup. Another recent report also alleged that the 27-inch iMac is also likely to get the M1 silicon treatment. If the rumours from Ross Young, a display industry consultant are true. The newer Apple 27-inch iMac could feature a mini-LED ProMotion display with 120Hz high refresh rate support.  Apple could launch the iMac Pro and the 27-inch iMac separately, equipping each of them with some combination of M1 Pro and M1 Pro Mac chip or Cupertino can release a single iMac and discontinue the 27-inch iMac altogether. Personally, I think the former event has a higher possibility.  Apple 27-inch iMac Pro And Other Probable Spring 2022 Event Announcements If speculations are anything to go by then the upcoming Apple 2022 Sprint event will feature a lot of new products. In addition to the above-mentioned iMac products, Apple will more than likely also launch the iPhone SE 5G, which is the current-gen iPhone SE but 5G enabled, more powerful and equipped with better photography capabilities. Similarly, Apple could also introduce a “Mac Mini Pro” introducing its latest M1 Pro and M1 Pro Max chips to the ultra-portable desktop computer. Last year also Apple introduced a bunch of new items like the AirTags, Apple TV 4K (2nd Gen), new iPhone 12 colour options and the iPad Pro during its Spring 2021 event held in April. With the pandemic in full force, expect the Apple Spring Event 2022 timeline to be similar. https://ift.tt/tAwIlX1mZ January 31, 2022 at 12:09PM

Redmi Smart TV X43 launching in India on February 9 https://www.digit.in sameer.mitha@digit.in (Sameer Mitha) Redmi is all set to add a new TV to its X series portfolio, the Redmi Smart TV X43. Currently, the Redmi smart TV is available in 50, 55 and 65-inch screen sizes. The TV will launch on February 9 in India and there is no information about the price or availability of the TV.  Redmi Smart TV X43 features and specifications As per the teaser page on Xiaomi's website, the Redmi smart TV X43 will support a 4K resolution along with support for HDR 10 and Dolby Vision, similar to its larger siblings. The TV will come with support for Dolby Audio with 30W of sound output. The TV will run on the Android TV OS with Xiaomi’s own PatchWall UI overlaying it.  We don't know the other specifications of the TV but we can expect it to support features found on its larger siblings like e-ARC and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). For connectivity, we can expect to see the TV support three HDMI ports and two USB ports.    Sorry, didn't hear you over the sound of all that e(X)tra (L)arge entertainment!  On 09.02.2022, witness the return of the #XLExperience: Bigger  Better  Larger than life  For more on the new #RedmiSmartTVX43 :https://t.co/UUM4O6t3h2 pic.twitter.com/vWZcXrL2IS — Redmi India - Redmi Note 11S (@RedmiIndia) January 28, 2022   Currently, Redmi has the Redmi Smart TV 43 available in the 43-inch screen space and that comes with an FHD display. In our review of the Redmi Smart TV 43, we said, “The Redmi 43-inch FHD Smart TV is a good TV overall. Not supporting 4K and HDR is not a con in this case as its picture performance is very good in SDR and better than some 4K HDR TVs we’ve tested in this price range. It has good colour reproduction and the panel works well for movies, TV shows and games. The audio output is fine for everyday use, especially considering the price of the TV. The only downside to the TV is that the UI can get laggy. The Redmi 43-inch FHD SDR TV is a very good option for those that understand the drawbacks of a budget 4K HDR TV and who want a TV that can reproduce content well. The only downside to the TV is the stutter I faced in the UI and hope this is something Xiaomi can fix via an update”. On the other hand, we also had a chance to review the 65-inch Redmi Smart TV X65. We believe the features of the Redmi smart TV X43 will mimic its elder siblings so you can expect the performance to be similar. In our review of the Redmi Smart TV X65 we said, “Xiaomi has an interesting offering with the Redmi TV X65 for Rs 57,999. What it brings with it is support for eARC for home theatres, ALLM for gaming and support for a variety of HDR formats. While the overall picture quality is good for the price, HDR 10+ content still has some issues. SDR content playback is good. The HDMI 2.1 setting is switched off by default and getting to it involves jumping through some hoops when connecting the PS5”. https://bit.ly/3GblJNq January 30, 2022 at 07:18AM

Gaming Chromebooks could launch soon to offer an alternative to Windows and Linux Gaming https://www.digit.in yetnesh.dubey@9dot9.in (Yetnesh Dubey) According to a recent report, changes in the Chrome OS suggests that Gaming Chromebooks are coming soon. For the uninitiated, Chrome OS is a free and open-source operating system from Google. Most people primarily use it for basic tasks like document editing, surfing the web etc. However, Chrome OS is more than likely to get native Steam support in the near future. Not only that but you can also expect Gaming Chromebooks with dedicated GPUs to launch as well.  Gaming Chromebooks To Feature Dedicated Graphics And RGB Keyboards According to some recent changes in the Chrome OS code, it will soon have full support for RGB keyboards allowing for in-depth key customisation. A Chrome OS code suggests “*” as an upcoming brand of detachable keyboards for Chromebooks. The Chrome OS code also suggests two upcoming gaming Chromebooks namely - Vell and Taniks.  Quanta computers based in Taiwan is most likely the candidate to manufacture Vell. Quanta’s employees recently developed products for HP and therefore an OMEN branded Gaming Chromebook could be on the cards.  Meanwhile, LCFC electronics, the largest R&D and manufacturing base for Lenovo is probably developing the Taniks Gaming Chromebook. A recent report also suggested that Nvidia and Mediatek are working together to bring RTX graphics to Chromebooks.  However, the most important announcement here is the Steam support for Google Chrome OS. At present, PC gaming is mostly limited to Windows OS with Linux gaming gaining popularity on small fringes. However, a natively running Steam app on Chrome OS could open the door for a lot of gamers to have a legitimate option other than WIndows. Considering how much time it took for Linux gaming to gain traction, I wouldn’t get my hopes up just yet for gaming on Chrome OS. Furthermore, Google is infamous for abandoning projects, what I mean is “none of your friends play on Stadia,” and they most likely never will. So keeping our hopes in check might be the best thing right now.  https://bit.ly/33UpdHn January 29, 2022 at 09:22PM

Here are the best gaming deals to grab during the Amazon Grand Gaming Days sale https://www.digit.in teamdigit@digit.in (Team Digit) When it comes to deals and sale events, it’s always a tough one to separate the real deals from the ones that aren’t. The Amazon Grand Gaming Days surely do surprise us every time with a few very attractive deals. However, those deals don’t last for long, and hence all you gamers (and deal diggers), you surely don’t want to miss out on them. Here’s a list of the best gaming deals so far. We will keep updating this list and adding deals as and when we find them.  The sale promises great deals on gaming laptops, desktops & monitors, headphones, gaming consoles, graphic cards, and TVs as well.  Some of the brands that are expected to come to the gaming party with offers are - Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, LG, HP, Sony, Dell, Corsair, Cosmic byte, JBL, and more. So, let’s get on with the best deals! Best Gaming Laptop deal under Rs. 60,000: HP Victus Gaming (AMD Ryzen 5 5600H + Radeon RX 5500M) This is surely one of the best budget gaming laptop deals out there. You get a six-core AMD Ryzen processor paired with the Radeon RX 5500M, which is most certainly better than the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 GPU that is normally seen at sub 60K price points. What’s more, you get 512GB of SSD as well. Which is a better option than the usual 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD offered at sub 60K price points. We’ve tested this laptop and can assure you of actual gaming performance numbers across popular games. Here are the performance numbers below. Full specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H 5th, AMD Radeon RX 5500M Graphics (4GB), 16.1-inch@60Hz display, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 10 Home, weight- 2.48kg. Best deal on GeForce RTX 3060 laptop: ASUS TUF Dash F15 For Rs. 84,990, the Asus TUF Dash F15 is probably one of the cheapest laptops with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 under the hood. We must mention though, the TGP on this one is rather modest at 80W with a 5W boost option available when you push it to the limits, which is lower than the max potential that the GPU can achieve if fed with 130W of power. You will see about 15-20% lower performance than a full-blown RTX 3060. However, for the money, the Asus TUF Dash at 85k is a very sweet deal, especially for 1080P gaming at high settings, where you can extract 100+ FPS in most popular games and take advantage of the 144Hz display on this one. You also get 16GB of RAM and 512GB of NVMe PCIe 3.0 based storage with an additional M.2 Slot. The laptop is also fairly light, weighing approximately 2 kilograms, which is quite light and portable for a 15-inch gaming laptop. There’s another catch though, the Intel Core i5-11300H processor on this one kinda borders towards being just about adequate with 4 cores and 8 threads. The good part though is a very healthy base clock speed of 3.1 GHz (and turbo of 4.4 GHz). Full specs: Intel Core i5-11300H 11th Gen,  6GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU, Gaming, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 15.6-inch FHD display with 144Hz refresh rate, Windows 11 OS. 24-inch monitor with 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time under 14K: LG Ultragear 24GL650F Most online stores are selling this popular gaming monitor at Rs. 14,500. So, at Rs. 13999, we surely think you are saving some cash here. Apply other applicable card discounts and you might be able to push the discount closer to 1K. About the monitor, well it sure is a very good buy for an entry-level (or even a budget mid-range) gaming PC. You get a decent screen size with a high refresh rate and a TN panel with a 1ms response time. The LG Ultragear is height adjustable, very much looks the part, and is well built too. The port selection is fairly wide and the placement is quite convenient as well. Bang for the buck high-performance gaming mouse: Logitech G502 Hero For Rs. 3800, the G502 from Logitech offers maximum performance/DPI per rupee (if ever there was such a ratio).  With the Hero 25K (25,000 DPI) sensor under the hood, adjustable weights, 11 programmable buttons, onboard memory, and the customary RGB support. The Logitech G502 leaves very little to complain about. Sure it’s not wireless but do you guys really dig a wireless gaming mouse for a desktop gaming PC? Especially when you need to decide between pure gaming-focused features versus the convenience of going wireless. Is it a tough choice?  The deals and deal prices are as per the date of and time of publishing this story, they might change in terms of availability as well as pricing, depending on demand and stocks at Amazon’s end https://bit.ly/3ubGhD5 January 29, 2022 at 09:16PM

There was no mention of why the app crashes but there seems to be a fix for that. The report also goes on to give users a step by step set of instructions to try and alleviate the problem. Recommendations include transferring all your chat backups onto Google Drive before installing a version of the beta build. Or, users could also revert back to an older build just in case something goes wrong.  In fact, we earlier reported that WhatsApp was working on a feature that will allow users to transfer voice chat histories from Android to iOS. The feature was first spotted on the WhatsApp 22.2.74 beta version for iOS. It also looks like the feature is still in its early stages as even beta testers do not have access to it. Headshot Posing Guide: 5 Simple Poses to Get You Started

a simple guide to headshot posing

What are the best headshot poses for corporate, business, or even family photography?

In this article, I share five of my favorite poses, including basic options for beginners as well as more advanced ideas for experienced headshot photographers. I also share a handful of my favorite headshot posing tips just in case you need a little extra guidance.

By the time you’re done, you’ll have a set of poses you can use in your own sessions. Memorize them, print them out, or even store them on your phone – that way, if you’re in a photoshoot and you’re struggling to direct your client, you can whip out my headshot photography posing examples and capture some beautiful results!

Headshot posing basics: getting started

Every great headshot pose starts with the same fundamental characteristics.

First, ask your subject to bring their shoulders back and push out their chest.

Then direct your subject to lean in with their forehead. In other words, they should always keep their forehead leaning ever so slightly toward the lens (while pushing their face slightly forward). Note that the forehead lean can be subtle, and you should take care to ensure it looks natural.

Check out the two images below:

two versions of the same pose, but with a tilted head

For the left-hand image, I asked my subject to keep her head straight. And for the right-hand image, I asked my subject to do the forehead lean. Can you see the difference? The right-hand shot is slightly more engaging, more dynamic, and features extra depth.

Note that you’ll almost always need to adjust the subject after they’ve leaned their forehead. Most people tend to lean in too far or lower their chin too much, so ask them to make slight adjustments until you find an ideal angle.

Then continue one with one of these professional poses:

1. Crossed arms

This first pose comes from traditional headshots, and it’s super easy to pull off: the crossed-arms pose.

Of course, it’s hardly an original pose, but by simply changing location, asking the subject to add a slight lean, and loosening up the tightness in the crossed arms, this pose can feel surprisingly modern. Plus, sometimes a classic headshot is what the client wants!

In the example below, the subject is leaning slightly back into the brick wall while crossing his arms and maintaining an upright posture. When asking women to do this pose, I like to encourage them to cross their arms loosely; otherwise, the shot can feel quite severe and cold. Men have a bit more room to keep the arms tight, but be sure to avoid that same severity.

You can always use the location to create different moods. For instance, the shot below relies on the well-lit location to add warmth:

Since the subject is a woman, I asked her to add a slight hip tilt and to drop the shoulder closest to the camera. My goal was to soften up the crossed-arms pose, which can sometimes feel too harsh.

2. The lean

Many clients want a lifestyle feel in their headshots – and an easy way to get this more relaxed, informal look is to take the subject outside and ask them to lean against a wall.

For one, a simple lean against a wall or railing can make the shot feel so much more natural than a rigid-backed image. And the wall will add context to the shot, plus the wall texture can inject a bit of character in an otherwise-bland image.

In the example below, the subject is leaning against a wall. The texture of the wall adds interest, and the lean softens the pose for a natural look. We didn’t want the shot to look too informal – the subject is a lawyer – so the client stuck with a suit jacket, which contrasted nicely against the wall.

Note: Even though the subject should lean, it’s still important for them to maintain good posture. Ask them to lean with their bottom half while preventing their entire back from slouching into the wall. Alternatively, they can gently lean with one shoulder to maintain balance while keeping their posture upright.

If the subject starts to look a bit stiff, have them “shake it out,” take a deep breath, and settle back into the pose. Sometimes, they just need a break from all the posing!

Here is another example of a leaning headshot pose:

In this case, the subject wanted to look casual – while also coming off as polished and professional. The subject leaned one arm on the railing for a casual feeling, but the nice clothes and the upright posture kept the shot relatively businesslike.

(In this case, the crossed-arms pose would have created an image that was too formal for the client’s needs, but the lean was perfect.)

3. The upright sit

Sitting poses work well for headshots, and you actually have a few options to work with. For instance, you can ask your subject to sit on a set of stairs with their hands joined over their knees:

Ideally, the knees end up slightly higher than the hips, which can easily happen on stairs. In the example above, the subject is sitting on steps, loosely resting her hands over her knees while still keeping her posture upright (very important!). If you’re not careful, a sitting pose can come off as too casual – but the resting hands and the upright posture help to avoid such an issue.

Alternatively, you can ask your subject to position themselves symmetrical to the camera before leaning slightly forward, with their legs apart and their hands folded together. This is a hugely popular pose for men, and it works especially well for medium-formal shoots.

I also like to use sitting poses when working with multiple headshot subjects. For this next example, I asked the subjects to sit on different stairs (my goal here was primarily to balance out their height differences!):

In the photo above, the subject on the top step is leaning slightly on the railing, which helps show a bit more of his torso. His arm is casually resting over his leg (similar to the popular male pose I just discussed). The front subject is leaning back and to his left, helping to unify the two subjects. Since these two men are business partners, it was important to maintain a sense of camaraderie in their poses.

4. The walking subject

I love walking headshot poses, and here’s why:

  • It loosens up the subject’s body if they are a bit stiff in front of the camera.
  • It encourages a more natural expression because you can chat with them as they walk.
  • It creates a sense of movement that translates into a deeper connection with the viewer.

Plus, walking headshots are easy to do, especially outdoors. Just find a nice background, take a few steps back from your subject, and ask them to walk toward you. As they go, fire off a series of shots (your camera’s burst mode can be helpful here, but isn’t essential).

Because you don’t have as much control over the background with a walking subject – they’ll be constantly moving, after all – I’d recommend using a longer lens and a wide aperture to blur out any distracting background elements.

And as always, encourage your subject to maintain good posture while walking (and if possible, to lean their forehead forward!).

5. Do an action pose

This is where modern headshots get fun.

You’re photographing a subject, often for their business – and you have the opportunity to express something about what they do and/or what their personality is like.

If they make a product, ask them to show you a product (and snap a photo!). If they do some sort of training, ask them to perform a bit of what they do. If they have a hobby, ask them to bring out some gear, get dressed in uniform, and so on.

With this type of fluid posing technique, it’s not so much about giving detailed directions; instead, just let the subject do their thing. Keep your camera at the ready, and capture some headshots full of personality.

For the photos below, I gave my subjects free rein to do what they wanted. I then snapped quite a few frames, as the final images needed to capture movement and activity, plus feature flattering expressions.

The best headshot poses: final words

Hopefully, you now have a few poses you can use for your next photoshoot! Of course, always make sure the pose you use is a good fit for the interests of the client (and don’t use these posing ideas as substitutes for getting to know your client, either!).

Now over to you:
