Microsoft wanted an iPad so they built their own and launched it in India Here are its specs https://www.digit.in yetnesh.dubey@9dot9.in (Yetnesh Dubey) Microsoft went Apple’s route and launched an ARM-based Windows tablet in India called the Surface Pro X, not to be confused with the Intel-powered Surface lineup it already sells. The new tablet has something different because similar to an Apple iPad, the Surface Pro X uses a custom-made SoC (System on Chip which contains the CPU, GPU) called SQ1 and SQ2.  These are Qualcomm chips designed to run an ARM-based Windows 11 OS. For the uninitiated, ARM is an instruction set, which is essentially a command for CPU in machine language. The Windows platform traditionally uses the X86 instruction set usually found in Intel and AMD CPUs but the Surface Pro X with its SQ 1 ARM chip uses the ARM instruction set. “How different is the experience though” I hear the anxious PC audience asking but I can only tell you that once I get my hands on the tablet, until then here’s all you need to know about its specs and other important details. Microsoft Surface Pro X Specs, Details, And Price In India The Microsoft Surface Pro X is the thinnest and most versatile 13-inch Surface device on the market, that’s not me claiming it but Microsoft’s press release. It weighs in at just 774grams the tablet is packing in a custom-made 8-core ARM-based Microsoft SoC. I cannot predict its performance but right off the bat, it’s safe to say that the device’s battery life will be more than the Intel-powered version because of the change in the Instruction set.  Furthermore, the Surface Pro X comes with a 5.0MP front-facing camera with 1080p video recording capabilities that automatically adjusts to lighting conditions. The camera software also has an AI that makes sure that the selfie camera follows your gaze. Microsoft also claims that a combination of dual far-field Studio Mics and optimized speakers deliver the best video calling experience, so I am making a mental note to test this feature thoroughly as I am writing this article.  The Surface Pro X does look stunning though thanks to a high-resolution 13-inch PixelSense touchscreen which also has a built-in kickstand. The Surface Pro X also has a signature keyboard with dedicated storage and a charging flap for Slim Pen 2. In terms of I/O, the Surface Pro X has two USB Type-C ports and a dedicated magnetic Surflink featuring an extra USB Type-A.  Remember that I mentioned that Windows traditionally runs on X86-based CPUs as well as it turns out so does most of its native apps like Microsoft Office, Teams, and third-party software like Photoshop and Lightroom. The Surface Pro X is ARM-based so such apps should not work as well but Microsoft is ensuring us that they do thanks to a high level of optimization. All these things and more will be put to test once we get the device and if you want to purchase the tablet right now then here are the available configurations.  https://ift.tt/3neD15P January 11, 2022 at 04:29PM

Microsoft Surface Go 3 tablet tipped to launch this month with the same design and Intel chips https://www.digit.in karthik.iyer@9dot9.in (Karthik Iyer) Microsoft's Surface Go tablet range has been one of the more unique offerings in the tablet space, and it looks like the company is all set to bring the next unit in the series, the Surface Go 3 tablet. It's currently speculated to arrive later this month when the company is slated to announce a couple of new hardware offerings. While we wait for that to happen, we have some leaked information about this upcoming tablet, and it looks like we'll once again be seeing Intel chips in use for these tablets instead of ARM. German publication WinFuture.de has reported that the Microsoft Surface Go 3 may come in two different variants. However, both of them are expected to make use of the Intel chips. One of them is expected to be powered by the Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y processor, a dual-core CPU with a base frequency of 1.10 GHz. The other model will most likely be powered by an Intel Core i3-10100Y processor, a relatively older quad-core unit with a base frequency of 3.60 GHz. This particular info appears to be extracted from the tablet's listing on Geekbench's database. Microsoft Surface Go 3 expected specifications and features The Surface Go 3 is also expected to feature the same 10.5-inch full-HD display as the predecessor. One can also expect to see a fold-out stand to go along with the tablet. Sadly, that's all the info we have about the tablet for now, but luckily we won't have to wait too long to see what Microsoft's been cooking for us behind the scenes. Microsoft's virtual event is also expected to see the launch of Surface Duo 2. This particular device is also expected to have the same dual-screen design that saw earlier on the original model. We'll definitely have more to talk about these devices soon, so stay tuned. Also Read: Microsoft Signed A Driver Loaded With Rootkit Malware https://ift.tt/3EbiiXB September 09, 2021 at 04:38PM

Additionally, Samsung also plans to launch a total of three new tablets early next year, the report alleges. The Korean giant already launches its high-end S series smartphones in three units and very soon the Galaxy tablet series will follow the same formula.  Earlier this year, Samsung also cancelled the launch of the Galaxy Note 21 mainly due to chip shortages and to focus on other products in its portfolio.  Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra leaked specs, price The Tab S8 Ultra seems to be the most powerful tablet produced by Samsung. Right off the bat, it has a huge footprint thanks to its 14.5 inch OLED screen featuring a 120hz refresh rate. With high demand for computing hardware all around the world, a late tablet release could mean that Samsung could lose out to the Apple iPad in terms of sales. Last year’s Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ are great tablets but they get beaten by the Apple iPad mini in terms of Geekbench score. Meaning, even the base spec M1-powered iPad can easily leave the Tab S7 and S7+ in the dust.  Apple also released the iPad OS 15 this year featuring several UI changes and the ability to add extensions to Google Chrome. However, people still feel that the iPad remains heavily underutilised due to its software. Meanwhile, a similar update can be expected for the Samsung DEX, which is one of the most understated features of Galaxy tablets. In Samsung’s case, a hardware launch delay can prove fruitful if it also features a comprehensive software update as well. https://ift.tt/3AVIWSC July 09, 2021 at 04:29PM
